The course has the purpose to provide students with tools characterizing the sociological discipline to analyse social phenomena. At the end of the course students will be able to apply the sociological way of thinking to social world. Thanks to this, students could see the social phenomena in a different way than they saw them before attending the lessons.

The course is aimed at providing students with basic knowledge of concepts, sociological categories and main differences between quantitative and qualitative social research. Students will be able to develop a critical thought and manage a sociological way of thinking related to analysis of social phenomena.

Witten exam with open questions.
In the answers given, the student will have to demonstrate that they have learned the main concepts of the different paradigms of sociology, that they know how to apply them to the reading of contemporary phenomena and that they know how to express them through the specific language of the discipline.
The assessment will take all three of these aspects into account.

Course program - Last names A-I
The course has the purpose to provide students with basic tools characterizing the sociological discipline to analyse social phenomena. The first part takes into consideration some concepts as community, society, social stratification, social differentiation, division of labour, status and class. The second part focuses on the capitalism from its origin to the forms of capitalism in the current societies. The third parts analyses some topics such as smuggling and trafficking in human beings, and immigration and criminality in Italy. At the end of the course students will be able to see the social phenomena in a different way compared to they considered them before the course.
