The aim of the course is to give to the students a critical knowledge of the most important topics of modern and contemporary political thinking, since the idea of sovereignty of the modern state to the birth of liberal, democratic and socialist tendencies in the XIXth century and to the development of aggressive conservatism, totalitarian regimes and democratic ideas in the XXth.
Course Content - Part A
THE COURSE WIILL CRITICALLY ANALYSE THE PARABOLA DESCRIBED BY THE CONCEPT OF GOVERNMENT IN MODERN AGE, FROM CRISTIAN PASTORAL UP TO CONTEMPORARY NEOLIBERALISM, TOUCHING ON THE DOCTRINES OF REASON OF STATE AND FIRST LIBERALISM.
THE CONTEMPORARY POWER’S GENEALOGY WILL BE INVESTIGATED IN TENSION WITH THE POLITICAL AND CONCEPTUAL HISTORY OF THE MODERN WEST, BEGINNING FROM THE CHALLENGE PRODUCED BY THE CURRENT ECONOMICAL CRISIS TO THE NEOLIBERAL CONCEPTION OF SOCIAL GOVERNMENT’S DEVICES.
